Penang Island A Week before Dragon Year of 2012

2pm in the afternoon, I'm here under the shield of Prai Ferry Jetty waiting for my turn to drive on to the Ferry.

I was queuing at the 1st position that's why I can took this shot down... and the passengers coming down from the Ferry after arriving.

This is the upper level of the Ferry which served Penang Island more than 20 years. The bench here still remain in very good condition which remind you about those time.

This not only to protect you from falling into the sea but it also able to let you sit on it when you are tired...

As until today you still can see the mini canteen serving the bread and some can drinks over here... this would be just great for those who are rushing their time...

When I pan my camera to further part of the Ferry and here is what I see... you can see there is another 2 Ferry which docking for passengers as well...

The name of our ride... Pulau Angsa and the tag you can find on the Ferry...

The view that we are heading towards Penang Island... and you can the Komtar Tower from far... Komtar Tower is the tallest building on the Penang Island...

Penang Island is a place where you find many ancient buildings all over the Island, this is one of it which is easily more than 80 years old... the ground floor are still serving to some tenants for business usage and the upper floors are rented as residential purposes.

The front ground of the most renowned Guan Ying Temple on the Island ... of course I will tell you the age of temple is more than 100 years old. During normal days many visitors will gather at this place for praying as well as touring purpose...

The door was once be using to access to the Hotel name 環海旅社 Wan Hai Hotel, after the baptism of the days, here already become an abandon building...

Normally Chinese people will only hanging Yellow Tang Long, I wonder why I found these Yellow TangLong over here... as you can see the side door is only appear during the older day...

現代大旅社  Modern Hotel, a really ancient building that place just walking distance from Cititel Hotel... It really looks cool to me and you still see there are hanging the wooden blind right outside the corridor. Most the manufacturer are no longer producing these kind of product...

A 12 stories height building which also known as Merchant Hotel or you may call it 商業酒店. During the 80's this is one of the renowned hotel on the Island... but now I would say it just another low low budget hotel which serve to those who really tight on their pocket or just for a simple stay.

After we had our dinner at Upper Penang Street, me and my wife having a little walk at the surround place. The building across the road is the one of the most expensive Hotel on the Island or you may also put in another way by saying 5 Stars Hotel... Of course I will never forget to mention the name of this hotel, Eastern & Oriental Hotel...  The Hotel still remaining the decoration and environment of 1884 when still under the management of British. The name of Eastern & Oriental was formed by the combination of Eastern Hotel & Oriental Hotel.

The ocean view when you sitting at the coastal of Eastern & Oriental Hotel... listening to the wind blow and looking at the sunset of Penang Island... this is one of the magnificent selling point of Eastern & Oriental Hotel... I was always wanted to have my High Tea over here... but unfortunately I can't reject the perfect taste of Penang Island Hawker food.

A corner shop which just right opposite of Eastern & Oriental Hotel Penang, full Glass window display are publish to all the people who passing by here... The wedding gown which attracted my attention is a piece art showing the design of 80's century... During the night time you might find it quite a haunted building, don't you think so?
Choose a piece that you like... modern Cheongsam which hanging on wall truly present the Chinese traditional yet never covered the style of modernist. Still they displaying the ancient style of Jacuzzi...

No. 1, Jalan Penang. Used to be Boon Siew Sdn. Bhd. now converted to MOIS night club.

Peking Hotel 北京酒店, this is loacated just beside SOHO pub and Bistro. It is totally a strong contrast when you look at 2 of this building standing next to each other.

Wonder what she able to pip through the door, if not mistaken this also the backyard of the Hotel of Lovelane 樂林.

Penang Island is a place where you can find many residents decorate their home or building with red tanglongs, I can really feel the Chinese New Year here...

A Chinese traditional handcraft which facing extinct... An old man sitting in front of his shop crafting some rottan. This shop is just right in front of Chulian Hotel at Chulian Street, Penang Island...

A newly opened Hotel which cost you more than RM 1000.00 per night... 中天樓 is the name of the hotel or you can call it Chang Tian Cultural Hotel, it was built in 1881, it used to be a Goldsmith when it was first built... after that it was use be it been used as a sawing factory or even a old time night club but now it been bought over and transform it into Hotel. The hotel consist of 11 rooms and each room has it own different environment and display with ancient furniture, of course each room has it own pricing... The pricing are as below:
 宝树(谢):价钱RM2188
龙山(曾或邱):RM1881
江夏(黄)、陇西(李)、西河(林)和内黄(骆):RM1388
汾阳(郭)、太原(王):RM888
弘农(杨):RM688
济阳(蔡)、颍川(陈):RM588

Tricycle were used as public transportation during the older... and now you still can find it around the Penang Island. There is 2 very nice decorated tricycle displaying in front at this hotel...

You will never see this again in now days design...

Wooden windows and wooden blind... were broadly use during those days... but now all these are replaced with either plastic or some other light weight material...

To many youngest, the pasar environment is just too strange to them... they are hardly expose to this kind of environment ... but those mummy and daddy, how nice to be wake up early in the morning and choosing the fresh vegetable and meat to cook for the meal.

The street between the Pasar and the ancient building...

Oh, just forgotten we were here because we are seeking for Penang Island Nice food ... and we pop in to this store just right beside the Pasar... the owner are quite friendly and told us they are serving Lam Mee 淋面, it is one of the Penang Island delicacy...

This is how it looks like, and let me tell you we never expect it is nice... but it truly amaze me when I had my first bite...

Look at my wife expression, I think you know what is the answer after all...

This store is running by a family, 2 daughter and their parents...

They are quite busy and the store are quite pack with customers...

During our walk on the street, we discover this Japanese guy sitting there and drawing the scenery of the Penang Street.

Yap Gongsi which is located at Amelia Street...
